Sport's ML Engineers are the people turning research artefacts into systems that run every day. They own the model life-cycle: data, training, deployment, monitoring, iteration.

Typical work spans player tracking pipelines, scouting and recruitment recommendation systems, opposition modelling, injury-risk pipelines, computer vision for broadcast and tracking, and the data engineering layer underneath all of it.

The bar has hardened over the past three seasons. We hire ML Engineers who can ship something useful in week one, not architects who exist only in design docs.

We assess every ML Engineer candidate against three pillars. Strong on all three is rare - and the only thing we hire for.

Technical depth

Python (PyTorch / JAX / scikit-learn) and modern ML tooling
Computer vision experience (CNNs, ViTs, tracking pipelines) where relevant
Solid data engineering - Airflow, dbt, streaming where needed
Model deployment, monitoring and on-call experience
Strong software engineering fundamentals

Sport literacy

Genuine familiarity with at least one sport
Comfort working with messy real-world event, tracking or GPS data
Past collaboration with analysts, sport scientists or coaches

Engineering rigour

Eval-driven development
Strong system design
Comfort with incident response and reliability work
